Reuben Schmitz is a Dutch YouTuber behind The Free World Trip Series — a fast-paced adventure where he and his friend Pim travel the world with no money, selling waffles to get by.
The Project
In October last year, Reuben approached us with an amazing initiative: he and his friend Pim had travelled the world for 6 months - without any money. This journey would consist of 14 different episodes & would all be uploaded onto YouTube. The only thing that missed: animation! Reuben didn't want the animation to just look good - he wanted to suck viewers into the series, making them part of the entire experience. We set out to do just that.
The challenge
With the idea being something never seen & done before on YouTube, the animation had to be perfect. It was super important for the motion to contribute to the entire experience & feeling of the series, instead of being a distraction.
